Media Sovereignty
Advancing Sovereign Digital Infrastructure and AI Services
As Media advance into an era defined by data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, they need urgent and coordinated action to ensure that digital foundations are independent, sovereign, secure, and aligned with democratic values. European industries, cloud and AI providers, research institutions, and policymakers need to accelerate efforts in developing and scaling sovereign data centers, cloud platforms, CDNs, social media and AI solutions that are:
- Trusted — based on transparent governance and compliance with EU data protection standards;
- Interoperable — grounded in open standards and avoiding lock-in;
- Resilient — designed for continuity of public-interest media services;
- Ethical — ensuring fairness, accountability, and traceability in AI applications;
- Environmental – Based on Transparency and collaboration to deliver reporting, targets and actions to reduce carbon footprint.
